Daytime Running Lights: Coming to an EU member state near you

Here is an article from The Hemscott Morning Star reporting that the EU is on track to make daytime running lights manditory in 2011 for all new cars. Follow the link below to find out more:

According to the European Union, having lights on during the day may reduce the number of collision related fatalities by 5%, shaving 2000 fatalities from the current number of 40,000 annually.

We believe that the EU must still consider amber daytime running lights as an option in this initiative, as studies have shown the visual superority that amber has over white light DRLs during the day.

We believe they would double the reduction on collision related fatalities by doing so, as evidenced by GM's studies on DRLs, as documented on our website. GM's numbers are: collision reductions due to full power low beam headlight DRLs: 3.2%; collision reductions due to amber turn signal DRLs: 12.4%

We wrote the EU about this in November of 2006, after they put forth a call for opinions on DRLs. Here is a link to their website on the subject:

Here is our 7 page response to exactly why Amber turn signal DRLs are flat out superior in virtually all catagories, also found on their consultation site under our company name "AllQuality Enterprises":

[When they converted our response from paper fax to PDF, some weird word spacing showed up, which makes us look like we don't know how to type correctly. Below is a second link to our response, as it was originally formatted:]
